Golden Elm
Liam Culbertson has been a green woodworker and a blacksmith since 2015. He was initially inspired to carve spoons after attending the Lost Trades Fair. Liam made the decision to forge all of his own tools throughout his journey, and as his tool making improved, so did his wood working. He specialises in small batches of hand forged wood carving tools which he tests frequently with his own carvings.
In addition to spoons, Liam loves to turn wooden bowls on a pole lathe and carve larger objects with axe and adze. His philosophy has always been about crafting long-lasting products with minimal impact on the planet, which is why he likes to use recycled and reclaimed materials wherever possible. Where longevity is key, Liam will use high quality, locally produced steel. All of his tools have been developed through years of testing, design and practice.
